My Top Ten Christmas Movies

5. Home Alone: Totally unbelievable no mom would be able to forget their child home, its just not possible, nevertheless funny. This was so much fun, laughs for the kids from start to finish. Kevin was such a bad ass and how he booby trapped that house to catch those two bafoons was even better. Macaulay Culkin made this film and it is one of the most popular films to date.

4. White Christmas: Two retired veterans now entertainers, try to help their retired colonel who has a hotel that's becoming bankrupt. They team up with a pair of sisters entertainers like themselves and put on a show to try and help. The music in this movie was beautiful and it produced one of the greatest Christmas songs to date from one of the most loved performers Bing Crosby.

3. A Christmas Carol: There are so many versions of this movie, Scrooge, The recent Jim Carey one. These movies have a lovely theme and message, we should all be kind and show love to each other not only at Christmas, but all year round. I can't say which version is my favorite, I actually prefer the book to the movies. It's still a classic and lots of fun for the family around this time.

2. Home Alone 2: Hands down best home alone and the funniest. It was way better than its predecessor. Kevin gets lost in the airport takes a flight to New York and maxes out his parents' credit card on a posh hotel, room service, candy, toys (every kids fantasy). Again he meets up with the burglars and gives them a trashing. The funniest part was his dealings with the hotel manager, could never forget that. The backdrop of NYC in the winter also added to my love of this movie.

1.A Christmas Story: I only saw this movie for the first time last year, it always comes on yearly, but I never looked at it before. When I saw it I was pleasantly surprised, it was so funny, the great lengths he went to for his bibi gun. It was hilarious and I loved every minute of it. What I loved the most about it was the family, they weren't extremely wealthy, and they weren't poor. They were the average middle income American family, that everyone could relate to. They were real and lovable, and this movie in my opinion is the greatest Christmas movie.

My Top Ten Christmas Movies

10. The Family Stone : The name doesn't indicate anything about Christmas, but this film is seasonal gem. It's about a woman's first Christmas with the chaotic family of her future fiance. Needless to say she's nervous and their antics do little to put her at ease. It has a lovely twist and a sad misfortune, which helps to bring them all together, further cementing the theme of family coming together for the season.

9.Mom for Christmas: This is another one of my favorites I used to watch this every year on the Disney Channel and I never got tired of it. It's about a little girl that wishes for a mom and finds it in the form of Mannequin(Olivia Newton John) which comes alive(I know cheesy). I loved it still, of course it has a little romance from the blossoming affection between the father and this doe eyed stranger that has come into their lives. I Know watching it now I'll see it differently but
back then it was one of my Christmas rituals.

8. All I Want for Christmas: This was about a brother and sister from divorced parents who wanted nothing more than to see their parents together again. What I loved about this one was that there was no magic or miracles, this was a wish they had to make happen themselves. How they went about doing it was nothing short of funny and made for an enjoyable film.

7. The Preacher's Wife: A beautiful film about a preacher who's so focused on his job that he neglects and is in jeopardy of losing his family. God sends an angel (Denzil Washington) who's sole task is to help repair and fix the almost broken family bond. This is one of the few films that focuses solely on the reason for the season, and it even has a christian theme. The music and singing was wonderful, of course with Whitney starring how could we expect anything less.

6.The Nativity Story: This movie as the name suggests tells the story of Jesus Christ's birth, from Mary and Joseph's courtship until the time of delivery. I thought it was a beautiful story and a very honest telling of what it must have been like for a young Mary and Joseph. It doesn't have all the usual themes of most Christmas films, there is no snow, no Christmas tree nevertheless it was a great story.

New Moon

Now I know is one is old but I had to give a review on it, simply because there are a lot of haters of the Twilight Saga and as a fan I have to try and justify my love. I just loved this book, but it was the the saddest one in the series for me. I'm Team Jacob I must say and I felt for him in this book and movie. The twilight movies are never great, but I can't help but love them I'm a sucker for romance. This one was a little better than Twilight. I loved Taylor Lautner's performance as Jacob and I love Kristen Stewart's portrayal of a depressed Bella (I felt her pain). Many critique their chemistry, saying there wasn't any. I didn't see that, and I loved every minute of their time together and I thought their connection was great. I didn't like that they hardly spent time with the wolf pack, maybe in Eclipse we'll see more of them. However it was fun to see the Volturi they lived up to what I expected them to be. While the movies are cheesy they will continue to break records because these books had a large fan base from the beginning. And its always every reader's(people fond of reading)dream to see their favorite books in film. I give it 4 juicy mangoes, looking forward for Eclipse next year.

This movie was one of the best ones I saw for the year and lived up to all it was expected to be. Now I saw this film in IMAX 3D and in my opinion this is the best way to see it. It was a well written script, it never fell flat and the special effects were awesome. It was nice to get that feel like you were in film and this made the experience better. Without giving away too much it basically tells the story which we're all familiar with of America landing on this planet Pandora trying to colonize and civilize the natives. As always they aren't there for educating the natives, there is wealth involved and you know the rest. It has all the qualities I love in my movies: Action, great story, romance and a triumphant ending. It's very safe for the family, this is a movie that everyone will enjoy. I give it 5 juicy mangoes (I'll be using mangoes to rate my movies and 5 is the highest.) Take a date, take a friend, go by yourself and most importantly try to see it in IMAX, if you can't at least try 3D.
